What type of bag do you carry when you go grocery shopping? Check out Hayden Panettiere’s bag. Hayden shows off her bag of choice as she picks up stuff from a local grocery store. No it’s not her own HP bag made exclusively for her by Dooney & Bourke, instead, it’s her pretty metallic Kooba Elisha Bow Hobo. What do you all think about this Kooba? Would you wear it? As for me, I adore the metallic leather seen throughout the entire bag (metallics are so hot right now)! The slouchy-ness of this Kooba is acceptable in my book, (I imagine this hobo being so easy and comfortable to use). Comfy, flat, eight inch leather shoulder straps and double side pockets are two key details I definitely approve of. The knotted bow tie found right up front is a nice feature found on the Elisha, without it, this hobo would appear quite simple, i.m.o. The Kooba Elisha measures in at 14”x 12”x 6”, and holds a price tag of $535.

Well it is that time again…time to find a new fall bag. I have to admit when I first started thinking about what kind of bag I wanted to get I pictured the beautiful leather bags by Kooba and Rebecca Mikoff. But I just can’t do anymore…I can’t carry around a heavy leather bag. Maybe it is fine if you live/work in the burbs and your main walk is from the car to the parking lot inside, but I have to stand on a crowded subway for 30min each morning and I need to be comfortable and carry a light weight bag.

The Kyle Tote caught my eyes a couple months ago when I was visiting the Fifth Ave store. Nylon and lightweight: check! Its also super big with some great pockets that would be perfect for carrying all my crap. Any what really makes this bag stand out from the crowd is the contrasting patent leather details and the nickle hardware. I also like the two different straps, which almost make it seem like two different bags.

I’m now checking the Cole Haan web site daily *hoping* for a sale…

For those of you that are a fan of Gryson bags, but not their prices, there is a new collection in collaboration with Target that will soon be making it’s debut in select stores. The artist behind the label, Joy Gryson, has teamed up with Target to create a line of handbags that are inspired by her designs and are super affordable with prices ranging from $19.99 to $49.99. Get ready to mark your calendars because Gryson for Target 2008 will only be available in stores from April 6 to June 23 this year.The bags featured in the new line for Target include influences from common traits seen in Gryson’s main collection. These include woven detailing, optional straps, and braided handles. Also, the colors that are mainly used are green, blue, white and black.

Personally, I think that there are two sides to this. First, it is a great idea for those that love Gryson’s designs but can’t afford the price tag, which usually starts around $500 or so. This will allow purse lovers to carry a designer inspired bag that’s not actually inspired, but branched from and less expensive than the original label. And that brings me to the next side.

But what about Gryson owners? How will they feel about this designer lowering the status and cost of their label for Target, which is comparable to Walmart, for example? Anya Hindmarch for Target bags

I was pretty impressed when I saw the images for the Anya Hindmarch bags for Target and tried to purchase one this past fall when Target had a number of pop up shops in Manhattan for Fashion Week. Sadly the pop up shop was so mobbed I didn’t even see any of these bags, let alone have a chance to purchase one, and after that I gave up.

So imagine my suprise a few weeks ago when I paid a visit to the Target in Queens Center and saw a whole rack of these beautiful bags. I went with the smaller bag and was finally able to give it a trial run last weekend and was quite impressed. The bag was the perfect size for wallet, make up, phone and keys and I liked the magnet on the front flap.  Although it came out a little plasticky looking in the above phones, the pleather on this bag in person looks much more luxe with the gold trim and gold Anya logo. Better late then never with this bag.

Los Angeles, California - For the second consecutive week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Los Angeles-Long Beach seaport seized over $1 million worth of counterfeit handbags and footwear. Had the items been legitimate the value would have been over $24 million.

On August 27, CBP officers and import specialists intercepted a shipment manifested as electronic appliances arriving from China. CBP officers examined the container and discovered 59,198 handbags and 17,400 pairs of footwear. A thorough inspection of the items by a CBP import specialist determined the items to be counterfeit. The counterfeits consisted of fake Coach and Fendi handbags and phony Coach footwear.

CBP officers seized the goods for federal violation of merchandise bearing a counterfeit trademark. “Our enforcement actions continue to pay off; we have an ongoing commitment that is focused towards intercepting commodities which violate any laws before they reach the consumer,” said Kevin W. Weeks, director of CBP Los Angeles office of field operations.

The importation of merchandise with counterfeit trademarks is illegal. As of now this merchandise has not been claimed by the importer. Importers violating these laws may be subject to civil penalties and or criminal prosecution.

Hayden-Harnett for Target bags

Speaking of fab Target collections,  I have a sneaking suspicion that the Hayden-Harnett collection could be the best ever. Every bag from the collection looks fantastic. The bags hit the store on Dec 28th, so I’m going to make sure I have some money left over after all my Christmas shopping.

The above bag is the one I have my eye on for a new everyday commuting bag. I almost bought the original version from HH a few years ago when I was on the look out for a light weight bag. Now I’m glad I waited. Here’s hoping the pocket situation in the Target version is the same as the original version.

UPDATE: I just checked the Target website and the Hayden-Harnett bags are availble to order! I placed my order for the sure to be fabulous Canvas Flight tote  in Purple/Gold and I threw in the Thakoon Zip Back top in Ebony/Purple for good measure so I can pretend to be Michelle Obama. I’ll probably swing by my local Queens Target after New Year’s to check out the rest of these collections in person, but I wanted to get my order for my “Must Haves” in ASAP since both collection are sure to be flying out of stores.
