Jimmy Choo Medium Tote bags

Got Choo? Since 1996, Jimmy Choo has been dazzling women with his gorgeous accessories. Although handbags were not added to the mix until a few years later, Jimmy Choo is practically a household name for bagistas around the world. I think what I find most appealing about the brand is the unique designs. Many Jimmy Choo styles are instantly recognizable just because they don’t look like anything else out there. Yep, Jimmy Choo never ceases to amaze. That is why I was so surprised, when I came across this handbag, to find that it was made by Jimmy Choo. Introducing the Monna Medium Tote. Yes, this bag is unique, with its expandable center gusset. But I would have never guessed that the creative mind behind this bag was good ol’ Mr. Choo. I’m not really sure how I feel about this bag, to be honest. I love, love, love the color (Neon Pink is new for the Resort 2009 Collection). And I also love the smooth leather and suede combination. But what is up with those extra zippers on the sides? If you ask me, those zippered pockets have placed this bag into the “overkill” category. What does everyone else think?
The Jimmy Choo Monna Medium Tote measures 14″ x 11″, making it a good size for use as a work tote. It retails for $1,735 (a bit pricey, I know). The new Neon Pink is currently available for pre-order.
Miu Miu Leather Bags

There are certain colors I just can’t get enough of. Gray is one of them. With so many different shades to choose from, gray is a color that can add anything from sophistication to edginess to your outfit. When I first came across the Miu Miu Diamond Leather Bag I didn’t think I saw anything too noteworthy. At first glance, I actually thought I was looking at a clutch. Yet, as I looked a little more, I noticed a few things. First of all, this is a handbag that can be carried as a shoulder bag which comes with an adjustable shoulder strap, or used as an oversized clutch. Then I found myself pleasantly surprised with the textured leather diamond patchwork and bows on each side. Doesn’t the handbag just look so soft? I have to say, I am definitely a huge fan of the external patchwork texture and internal satin lining combination. With many gray winter days approaching, this is definitely the kind of gray I wouldn’t mind holding on to. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1,295.
Petale Tote bags

Tisk, tisk, tisk. To me, this bag is just all wrong. I really don’t know what the designers were doing over at Valentino when they came up with this idea. The Valentino Petale Tote doesn’t just hurt my eyes, but it also would undoubtedly hurt my wallet. The layers of black tulle make this handbag look cheap and simply thrown together haphazardly. Not only that, but could you imagine how the tulle would feel as it rubs against your arm as you run around trying to take care of errands? I doubt it would feel good. I guess one good thing is that when it comes to how you can carry the bag, you have options. There are double patent leather handles and a detachable patent shoulder strap. Now of course, don’t hesitate to let me know if you think I am off base here, but for the price, is there anything about this purse that is worth it? Buy through Saks for $1,495.
wonderful Eva!
Nomad Messenger Bag

In our past two Gossip Girl discussions, we’ve had at least one poster ask about the messenger that Dan sports in the series - it’s vintage-looking, non-bulky, and actually pretty chic (for a manbag). And truth be told, I have no idea what it is or where it came from. Even on an enormous website like Zappos that carries hundreds of brands, only a handful of results appear when looking for a brown leather messenger (and most of them are for women). Perhaps society is trying to discourage our male counterparts from sporting man purses, or maybe brown just isn’t a big color for men this season. Honestly, I have no idea - I didn’t expect my search to be nearly so futile. I did find one bag that I thought Mr. Dan Humphrey might like, even though it’s obviously not the one that he has in the series: the Salvatore Ferragamo Nomad Messenger Bag. Its details are understated, its leather looks worn and saddle-like, and the silver buckles are just simple enough to not make you question the wearer’s sexuality (not that a manbag should make you do that in the first place). Brooklyn-dwelling teenager Dan would have to sell his sister Jenny into white slavery to afford it, though: it’s a bit steep, but buy through Saks for $1,900.
The Fendi Baguette is Back Just in Time for the Sex

Talk about timing! The Sex And The City movie is being filmed in Manhattan NY as we speak (and its about time). Carrie Bradshaw’s “signature bag” the Fendi Baguette (which first came out in 1997) is making its second appearance down the Fendi runway in the Spring 2008 collection. How perfect is this? The Fendi Handbag and TV show that went hand in hand are now making a comeback together 10 years later!
Ps. I bet SJP will carry the new Fendi Baguette in the movie!

Anya Hindmarch tote bags
Miss out on the eagerly anticipated Anya Hindmarch for Target collection when she sold it for UK customers on her website? Yeah, me too. But while I could easily wallow in my misery about the whole thing (or you know, beg one of my stateside-living mates to post some out to me), I have also been thinking: if I'm going to buy some Anya, why not go the whole hog?
This patent-trim tote bears a resemblance to the Target collection, however you can just imagine how gorgeous the smooth patent calf leather would be and the nylon means it's a very practical and classy way to do your shopping! At $375, it's a little bit beyond the $20-$50 pricepoints for the Target range, but if you're in the "what credit crunch?!" frame-of-mind, then you may wish to indulge. From Saks.
Jimmy Choo Hobo Bags

Sorry for the late start today, but there is just so much to do so little time. As you know last week Vlad and I spent in NYC. We have amazing interviews and pictures to come (so excited to share with you all!). Things are hectic around here today as we are getting things situated before Vlad leaves on Thursday for Germany for two weeks. I am staying home to hold down the fort and Shannon is headed to California. We have so many things in store for you all, just hang tight!
While in NYC Vlad and I did not over-shop, at least in our minds. Of course we shopped, but not crazily. I nearly left Hermes with a new goodie, but I decided to wait for something else and we got Vlad a treat instead, a Hermes wallet. We will photograph it later, but it is his new pride and joy. We picked up a few items from another store, and those pictures will come later.
Small Toggle Leather Tote

I will be the first one to say I am a huge fan of Bottega Veneta handbags. The leather and detailing put into every one of these bags errors on the side of flawless. The one drawback could be how sophisticated the handbags are. Ok, there is nothing wrong with sophistication; in fact, sophistication is something I consider highly sought after. But from time to time, a fun, chic bag is all that I want to carry. Is that what the BV designers are trying to get after here with the Bottega Veneta Small Toggle Leather Tote? I can’t decide if I like the fun, youthful look or if I absolutely hate it. Now, the white leather topped off with multicolour toggle detailing is a personal no-go for the upcoming seasons; it would have to wait until spring. And come to think of it, don’t the toggles remind you of those spice drop candies? As much as I like the candy, I think I would find myself trying to pick off the toggles as I stood in line, sat on the subway or even just walked down the street. And again, white leather, can just get dirty so easily. So, I guess I think I would prefer spending my money on something like the Bottega Veneta Barcelona Cabat (which I still have on my wish list) than on this tote. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1850.
Saks Sale

Saks Sale Time! Remember these beauties? We’ve mentioned them previously. Thanks to the crummy economy, better bags than usual are getting sent to the sale section, and you’d be wise to revisit these bags at their new, lower price tag:
The Foley + Corinna Jet Set Jr. Tote: A favorite of our Gossip Girl heroines, the Jet Set Jr. is luxe without being showy and big enough to carry all of your everyday stuff without losing its shape or its chicness.
Was: $528, Now: $369.
The Marc Jacobs Sunburst Stam Bag: This is a personal pick of mine - the Stam shape we all know and love, reworked in beautiful grey without the expected quilting and gold chain. Instead, MJ goes with subtle pleating and a silver box chain, changing up the look just enough to make us all revisit this classic bag. Was: $1395, Now: $976.
The Longchamp Medium Legende Patent Shopper: This color is freakishly, remarkably gorgeous. There are no two ways about it. Why is this on sale? Was: $900, Now: $630.
The Anya Hindmarch Cooper Mirror Bottom Hobo: The fact that this bag made it to the sale rack should make us all fear for the state of the economy. The shape is perfect, the color and texture combination is interesting while still being grown-up, and it positively oozes taste. This bag was great at it’s original price, and even better at the new one. Was: $1195, Now: $836.
oversized yellow tote bags
Having just glanced outside and been met with a gloomy grey sky, I was really quite pleased to come across this bright yellow shopper by Roberto Cavalli just now. So bright it not only conjures up feelings of sunshine and lazy days at the beach, it possibly even beams out some actual UV light too!
While Net-a-Porter recommends it as a "holiday tote" (and yes, it would be a pretty nice addition to your bikini-outfit), I also think the yellow leather would look great with your black wool winter coat (and perhaps a spot of red lippie too, to really perk things up). It's £680, so having it become a summer and winter tote makes that price much more justifiable.

'Trigger' handbag
I don't know why you'd name such a smart and sophisticated handbag after the most gormless character in one Britain's best-loved sitcom, but both Alexander McQueen *and* Botkier have done it so I must be missing something.
I don't like Botkier's 'Trigger' very much, but I completely love this bag. Great shape, good size, nice vintage styling and just all round lovely. Oh and not shown on the picture is the gold and black plaited rope detail, but it's detachable and should certainly be detached (and then binned). It costs $2,345 from Net-a-Porter.
a geeks dream
Zara Rabinowicz writes...
I'm a bit of a sucker for geek chic, and when I saw this handmade purse I simply couldn't resist sharing it with you.
It reminds me of the days when I'd actually create an authentic mix tape, listening to the radio and clicking stop every time the final chords/annoying DJ's voice started. It's made of fabric and the cassette appliqué detail is delightful! £17.99 from Betty Joy.

your shangri-la
I love Oprah, but, having had a look at The Oprah Store, now online, I realise I don't love Oprah quite as much as I thought. It is chock-full of products personally chosen and endorsed by the Big O herself, but practically everything in the shop is adorned (or ruined) by the "O" logo.
The logo is more subtle on these metallic make-up bags - it's relegated to the zipper pull - and they're rather nice, I think. They come in pewter, blue, bronze and green and cost $36 each.

Fancy Rabbit Field Bags
I'm 37 and all these years I've been looking for a 'field bag' featuring a picture of a rabbit wearing a top hat and a monocle and I've finally found one!
By Deadworry, it costs $22 from Shana Logic and also features, they're excited to point out, an "inside zippered pocket!" Woo-hoo!
